About The Piece

I worked on this piece for a very long time – years. The melody started as free improvisation and ended up being my first foray into using different meters to create something that grooves and has a strong melody. I used a bit more of a pop music form for this one. Here’s some high-energy jazz!


Big Band Version:

I wrote this piece for USF Jazz Ensemble 1 and it was premiered a few weeks later on April 21, 2014.  It was my first big band chart for USF and the 2nd big band chart I had performed in concert.
